Day 1
Depart Cape Town area and head North with the ever so changing landscapes
for Clanwilliam to visit the Ramskop Flower Garden, a walk about the town
and have lunch. From here we head onto Klawer for a quick
wine
taste before visiting the world famous Kokkerboom Succulent Nursery in
Vanrhynsdorp for an educational guided tour. This stop will prove to be
one
of the highlights of the day! We
then
head east the town of Niewoudtville via the very scenic and impessive
Vanrhyns Pass to the town of Niewoudtville, also known as the bulb capital
of the world, to overnight with dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights.
Day 2
After breakfast we visit the spectacular and unexpected Nieuwoudtville
waterfall outside the town on route to the amazing and unreal Quiver tree
forest with over 3000 trees! During the day you will also enjoy a walk in
the gannetjie as well as pay a visit to Bikoes and the well known
Matjiesfontein Farm. Along the way you will enjoy a picnic lunch
amongst the flowers having also enjoyed some of the local pancakes in the
church hall. We return to the same B & B for sundownwers and dinner.
Day 3
We return via Vanrhynsdorp, Clanwilliam and pay a visit to the bird Island
at Lamberts Bay before heading back home via the West Coast. Depending
upon the flowers in the Biedouw Valley we could also go back via the
Pakhuis Pass to Clanwilliam and then onto Cape Town. This however will
and can only be decided upon once we have assertained what the prevailing
conditions are in the Biedouw Valley with regard to the road and the
flowers.
